Over a single unhurried consultation, we listen, we sketch, we choose the shape and colour with you, and then we hand-craft a pair of acetate spectacles that is yours alone. No one else in the world will wear them. No one else could.
The bespoke consultation: A conversation before a commission
Every bespoke piece begins the same way: seated across from one of our senior opticians, with a coffee, and without a clock.
This first appointment is less a fitting than a conversation. We ask how you live, where you travel, what you wear, how you read, where your eyes tire at the end of the day. Then we look at how light behaves on your face — the set of your brow, the line of your cheekbone. A pencil comes out. Quiet sketches take shape. Only then do we begin to propose silhouettes, finishes, and the right bespoke spectacles for your life.
You leave not with a frame off a tray, but with a design brief drawn up in your name. Some clients return for a second session before committing. There is no pressure, and there is no hurry. A spectacle you will wear on your face every day deserves that kind of care.
Cellulose acetate: A material with a hundred shapes and a hundred colours
Ready-made frames target an average — and averages, as anyone who has tried on a dozen pairs will tell you, rarely flatter a specific face. A bridge that pinches. A temple that rides. A rim that clears the cheek by a hair too little.
We cut every bespoke spectacle from hand-polished acetate — the material that has dressed the finest eyewear for a century, pioneered by houses such as Mazzucchelli 1849 in Castiglione Olona. Acetate feels warm on the skin and works beautifully by hand. Above all, it behaves like a chameleon: our craftsmen draw it into almost any silhouette and mix it into almost any colour. That is where the bespoke conversation really begins.
Choose your shape
A soft round that quietens a strong jaw. A precise rectangle that sharpens a round face. A classic panto, a forward-leaning hexagon, a gentle cat-eye, a flat-top aviator drawn in acetate rather than metal. Our opticians sketch two or three silhouettes in front of you until one makes the room quieter.
Choose your colour
Ink black, warm cognac, olive, oxblood, smoke, cream, a translucent rose. A single tone, a layered tortoiseshell, a crystalline gradient that fades from honey to clear, a contrasting inner rim visible only when the frame is off. Our colour library holds well over a hundred references. For clients who want something that doesn’t yet exist, we mix custom blends to complement your hair, your complexion, and the colours you actually wear. No one else will have the same pair.
Our craftsmen pin and file the hinges by hand. We bevel the edges so the frame catches the light the way it should. Your name will be engraved, on the inside of the temple, where only you will see it. Precision lenses for your bespoke spectacles
A beautifully made frame deserves lenses of the same order. Our service includes custom-ground lenses that we optimise not only to your prescription but to how you use your eyes — a standard of personalised dispensing.
We account for the geometry of the finished frame — its tilt, its wrap, its distance from your eyes — so the optical centres fall exactly where your gaze does. For progressive wearers, we tailor the corridor to your working distances: the screen at arm’s length, the dashboard, the page of a novel held on your lap. We choose coatings to match your life — a hydrophobic finish for the coast, a blue-filter layer for long days on screen, a photochromic option for those who refuse to carry two pairs.
